Welcome to the 2010 Spring TearUp, celebrating our 6th year at Fish Creek Pond State Park
June 10-13, 2010!
We currently have 50 sites booked and 90 campers so far. Visit the Participants List for a list of those currently booked.
Saturday Night Wine and Cheese
Last year the wine and cheese on Saturday night was a HUGE success despite all the rain! So this year we hope to do the same, although be a bit more organized as far as setting
up tents and/or tarps in case of rain. Check out the TearUp Wine and Cheese Teaser from last year.
Start: 6:00 p.m.
Where: Dave and Kate's Campsite (site 241, look for our shiny Airstream)
What to Bring: Wine and cheese or appetizer (enough for yourselves but
we will pool the food)
Group Photo: between 6:30 - 7:00
Draw for Prizes: If you wish to donate a prize this year please bring
it the day before or in the morning of the Wine and Cheese. Last year
with the rain and chaos of the steal a gift Kate wasn't able to get
names from those who donated prizes and we would like to name those
people to thank them for their generosity.
Steal a Gift: New Rules and Reminders of How to Play
To play you must bring a wrapped gift to the Wine and Cheese gathering.
Gifts should be less than $10; or regift from something around your
house (optional camping theme!); or even better something hand made!
Your steal a gift should be wrapped and tagged with your campsite #.
Please tie the tag on so it can be removed. This is your ticket for
the game. Once the tag is removed the gift is anonymous.
Reminder of Rules (with a slight change):
Kate will draw a campsite number. The first person must chose a prize
but cannot open it.This gift remains unopened throughout the game -
It's the "mystery gift".
The next person has a choice of A) chose a gift from the pile and open
it; or B) chose a gift from the pile and exchange it with player #1.
Player #1 will open the exchanged gift but Player #2 cannot open the
"mystery gift" which can be stolen throughout the game.
Player #3 can chose A) a gift from the pile and open it; or B) a gift
from pile and exchange it for one of the gifts in play.
This goes on until all gifts in the pile are in play. The final move
is for Player #1 who never got to steal. This is now their choice to
either exchange what they have with any other gift including the
unopened gift if it has been stolen from them. Once Player #1 has made
their choice the "mystery" gift can be opened.

T-Shirts and Flags
Last year the T-shirts where a huge success! Most everyone have them, however we will see what interest there is this year, and perhaps order a smaller batch if campers speak
up.
Many campers were disappointed about not having a TearUp flag. Maybe this year we will have enough interest to get some made.. think we need at least 10 or 15 orders to justify
the cost. More about this later IF there is interest shown.
Supporting the Local Food Bank
Ed and Becky came up with this brilliant idea to give back to the community, and it was a huge success last year! Here is an update on the Food Drive for this year courtesy of Ed &
Becky...
OK....I spoke to Linda Young today from the food pantry & she was very pleased to hear from us again. I asked her if she & her husband could join us on Saturday to speak to
the group about what they do & how much our donations mean to them. She is hoping that they can come up but we will touch base again about that as the date gets closer. If they
can't make it, we will deliver the goods as we did last year.
She did tell me that this was a busy year at the food pantry & that they saw many new faces. She also said they saw a lot of pregnant women. I asked her what they could use most
as far as products & this is what she suggested....
Pasta
tuna
peanut butter
macaroni & cheese
boxed dinners
jelly
juices
baby food & diapers!!!
pet food
personal care products
I hope this is helpful to everyone & we would ask if you could get the food items to our campsite as soon as possible on Friday(not sure when we will be arriving) or Saturday
morning. We are on site 236.
Thanks-Becky & Ed
